The Asian Congregational Enhancement Office (part of the Racial Ethnic and Women's Ministries/Presbyterian Women program area) works with the Asian constituencies to assist with issues related to Asian American ministries, to develop resources for leadership development, help in new church development projects, consult with issues in church redevelopment, facilitate leadership training conferences and provide staff service to the Southeast Asian Advisory Committee. The office also cooperates with other General Assembly program areas, offices and middle governing bodies.
The Advisory Committee on Southeast Asian Ministries was established in late 1988 and had its first meeting in 1989. Since that time many churches have been developed as well as many Southeast Asian congregational oOrganizations. The purpose of the Committee is to assist the General Assembly to develop denominational strategies to help governing bodies and appropriate committees in relating to the Southeast Asian groups.
