Rev. Ricardo and Reyna Green are mission co-workers requested by the Independent Presbyterian Church of Brazil (IPIB) to serve at Fortaleza Theological Seminary. Ricardo is a professor at the seminary and works closely with the IPIB presbytery in work on planting new churches. Reyna provides ministry from their home.

Fortaleza Theological Seminary was founded in 1986 by the IPIB for the purpose of preparing pastors and training lay leaders within a specific cultural, geographical, and economic context, hoping to meet the needs of north and northeast Brazil. Historically, the Brazilian northeast is the poorest region of the country. In the past, many of the candidates for ministry attended the seminary in Sao Paulo, located in southern Brazil, and would not return to their origin of birth upon completion of their studies. The theological formation in another economic and cultural context, as well as the opportunity to work in the central south of the country, was a decisive influence not to return to their place of origin.

Today, there are close to 200 students at Fortaleza Seminary in the three programs of theological training and in the program that prepares ministers of music. Since its inception, only one graduate works outside of the region, demonstrating that the seminary has reached its objectives. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has been a partner since the beginning of this successful experience.

Ricardo has served as an organizing pastor of a new church development since 1993 at First Hispanic Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Prior to that position he served as pastor of another new church development at First Hispanic Presbyterian Church in Kingston, New Jersey. During his seminary training, Ricardo served for a summer at Second Presbyterian Church in Newark, New Jersey, and for two years in Christian education at Spanish United Methodist Church in Trenton, New Jersey. Ricardo is a clergy member of Tropical Florida Presbytery.

Ricardo has a BA degree in philosophy and religion from the University of LaVerne in Pomona Valley, California. He received his MDiv degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey, and earned an MA degree in Christian education from Princeton Theological Seminary as well.

Reyna was born and raised in Honduras and graduated with a degree in teaching from Colegio Normal Mixta in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. She worked as a teacher in Tegucigalpa at Instituto Maria Auxiliadora. Recently she has been a homemaker and mother to their three children, Kerry, Ashley, and Richard. Reyna is a member of First Hispanic Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale and was active in teaching and women's ministry there.
