Wendy and Gar Kelley are mission co-workers with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) appointed in June 1999. Their first assignment takes them and their family to Accra, Ghana. Gar is the West Africa mission enabler and Wendy coordinates the Young Adult Volunteer program. As a mission enabler, Gar establishes and facilitates programs for the support of the partner church's evangelism and educational activities including leadership development, theological education, and school and church construction. These responsibilities include reporting information between partner churches and institutions in West Africa and the Worldwide Ministry Division and other related PC(USA) churches and institutions. In 1998 the Kelley family spent ten months in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, in intensive study of the French language and West African culture.

Gar is an ordained Baptist minister; he and Wendy are members and deacons at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, New Jersey. Gar received his BS in finance from Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia, and his MDiv and ThM in African Christianity and Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. Prior to attending seminary Gar served as a financial consultant with the Reed Travel Group, finance manager with Bellcove, budget analyst with Chase Manhattan Bank, and pricing analyst with the Xerox Corporation.

Wendy worked in the finance service departments at Chase Manhattan Bank and Merrill Lynch before she decided to become a full-time homemaker, raising their three children, and to pursue her degree in economics. Wendy received an AAS in marketing from Middlesex College and her BS in economics from Kean College.

Garvester and Wendy are the parents of Brandon, Marcus, and Justine.
