Essential position tasks and responsibilities
- Communicate with teams before arrival about frequently asked questions.
- Conduct orientation of incoming teams and assign sleeping quarters.
- Delegate certain functions of the village such as cooking, cleaning, maintenance, leading debriefings or prayers.
- Liaise with partner organizations and develop relationships with potential new partners.
- Attend community organizing meetings to conduct research on rehabilitation activities in the Gulf.
- Provide data on work activities to PDA staff.
- Ensure that volunteers comply with safety regulations (according to OSHA) and the code of conduct (according to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
- Work with logistics staff to enhance facilities in the village.
- Maintain good accounting practices with moneys spent and taken in.
- Provide a safe, friendly, impactful experience for the volunteers.
Compensation
Managers are volunteers, but PDA provides a nominal per diem to cover incidentals. In addition, housing, food and transportation are provided.
Essential skills
Comfortable in camping environments, group leadership experience, diplomacy, clean driving record, prior volunteer work (preferably in the Gulf), sensitivity to other cultures, computer skills, comfortable with mechanical equipment, good physical health, availability for three months, patience and flexibility.
